REINA - CALATHEA ORNATA
Reina, the Calathea Ornata or pinstriped prayer plant has stunning pink stripey leaves. She stays relatively compact (the largest she'll ever get is about 2' by 2' or so). She's a little finicky, and needs to have instructions followed to thrive. She may throw a little hissy fit when moved, as queens are prone to do. If you have a little experience with houseplants, this one will be a great addition to your collection.
• Light: She does extremely well in bright conditions without the need for direct sunlight. Find a well lit spot to seat your Reina.
• Water: Water when the top 1" of soil feels dry, but don't let her dry all the way out. Ensuring that the air is not too dry will allow the leaves to thrive, therefore using humidifiers or pebble trays can help to maintain levels of humidity. Misting the leaves daily during summer is also advised.
• Considerations: Calathea Ornata is sensitive to environmental stress, and and sometimes gets occasional brown edges or spotting on leaves. High humidity and persistent watering will help this plant thrive.
• Pets: Known for being pet friendly
